OUR STORY

Woven in Silk

Since the 1880s, Kanchikalingam has stood at the heart of silk weaving, not as a trade, but as a devotion. We are the fifth generation entrusted with this living heritage, and every saree that leaves our hands carries within it the weight of 140 years of unbroken craft. Our artisans do not merely weave silk. They inscribe stories, of temple gopurams, of mythological splendour, of nature’s most intricate forms, into every border, every motif, every strand of pure zari.

Our Collections

Four Expressions of Timeless Silk

Each collection embodies a distinct facet of the Kanchikalingam legacy, from the grandeur of bridal ceremony to the quiet poetry of everyday elegance.

The Craft

Six months. Countless hands. One saree.

The creation of a Kanchikalingam saree is not production, it is devotion. Each piece passes through the hands of master weavers who have inherited their knowledge across generations, working on pit looms with patience that cannot be mechanised.

Heritage Gallery

A century of celebrations, documented.

These are not just photographs. They are proof of a promise kept — families who trusted Kanchikalingam with their most sacred days, generation after generation. Behind every frame is a saree woven in our loom, a moment frozen in silk that has outlasted time itself. For over 140 years, we have been part of weddings, muhurthams, and milestones that families still speak of today. This is our living legacy — and it continues with every saree we weave.

"A Kanchikalingam saree is not bought. It is inherited, whether it has passed through one generation or is destined to begin that journey today."

Testimonials

Worn with Devotion

"My bridal Vivaaha Pattu is the one thing I will never part with. The zari work alone took my breath away — three months after the wedding and I still cannot believe something this exquisite was made for me."

Kavitha Subramaniam Vivaaha Pattu · Chennai, 2023

"Four generations of our family have worn Kanchikalingam sarees for our weddings. When I brought my daughter for her bridal saree, the master weaver recognised my mother's name. That continuity is irreplaceable."

Meenakshi Iyer Soundarya Pattu · Coimbatore, 2024

"I commissioned an Ananya saree with a very specific vision — peacock motifs in teal and gold, inspired by my grandmother's description of a saree she once wore. They brought it to life perfectly."

Divya Krishnamurthy Ananya Bespoke · Bengaluru, 2024
