Description
Orange Mustard — a colour as warm and generous as a Tamil Nadu harvest — meets the timeless Mango (Thilagam) puttah in this magnificent E/M Kanchipuram Silk Saree. The Mango motif, or Thilagam, is among the oldest decorative symbols in Indian textiles, representing abundance, fertility, and good fortune. Here it appears as individual zari puttahs (motif clusters) scattered across the rich orange-mustard body — each one woven with genuine gold zari by a skilled artisan.
The saree features an Elephant border — another deeply auspicious motif in South Indian tradition, representing the blessings of Lord Ganesha. Woven in zari along the border, the elephants march in stately procession, framing the body with ceremonial grandeur. The zari-rich self-pallu provides the signature Kanchipuram finish, and a plain violet blouse with a woven border adds a beautiful, complementary contrast.

🧵 The Craft Behind This Saree
The Elephant border in Kanchipuram is woven using a specific pattern card system — historically, these cards were hand-punched with the motif design and threaded through the loom. Today the most authentic weavers still use hand-controlled Jacquard or traditional card systems to achieve this level of detail.
🌿 Care Instructions
Dry clean only to preserve silk lustre and zari brilliance. Store in a breathable muslin or cotton cloth to prevent moisture damage. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight to retain colour vibrancy. Do not fold along zari lines; roll gently to prevent creasing.
📝 Note
Slight colour variations may occur due to photographic lighting or screen settings. Each saree is handwoven — minor irregularities are the hallmark of authentic craftsmanship.
